Why Egg Donation
For some couples, egg donation is the only option for achieving pregnancy. Reasons why a woman might choose egg donation include:
- Chemotherapy
- Premature menopause or premature ovarian failure
- Genetic issues
Imagine if the recipient were your sister or a friend. As an egg donor, you are generously providing a couple with a wonderful gift.
Understanding Egg Donation
The egg donation process can be strictly anonymous. Your privacy is highly respected, and recipients will not receive any identity information about you. You will neither meet the recipients nor be informed of the outcome of the process. All screening and treatment are conducted confidentially. The newborn resulting from your donated egg will become the legal child of the recipients, and you will have no further obligations.

More about Egg Retrieval
The official name of this procedure is Ultrasound-Guided Needle Follicular Aspiration. You will be placed under sedation and will remain asleep throughout the procedure. A vaginal ultrasound probe, equipped with a specialized needle, will be used to visualize your ovaries. The probe is inserted through the vaginal wall to aspirate fluid from the follicles in the ovaries. After the procedure, you will stay in the recovery room for about an hour, and a responsible adult will need to take you home.
Your Benefits
All medical costs will be covered, and the egg donor will not be responsible for any out-of-pocket expenses during the screening process or the actual cycle. Travel expenses will also be fully reimbursed. Your participation in the egg donation process is considered a wonderful gift to the intended parents. Depending on your background, compensation typically ranges from $8,000 to $15,000 or higher. The full amount will be remitted to you on the day of egg retrieval.
